Samsung Galaxy Note8 Data Usage Options

Configure Galaxy Note 8 options for Wi-Fi data usage.
1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
2. Tap Settings > Connections > Data usage. The following options are available:
• Wi‑Fi data usage: View data usage over Wi‑Fi connections.
• Restrict networks: Select networks to prevent apps that are running in the background from using them.

Set Mobile Data Limit Verizon

Caution Mobile data (cellular data) is disabled upon reaching the specified data usage level indicated by the red limit line. To continue to utilize apps dependant upon a data connection (e.g., Browser, Email, Market, etc.), a Wi-Fi connection can be used or Mobile data must be manually re-enabled (overage charges may apply).

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Data usage.
From the Mobile section, tap Billing cycle and data warning.
Tap the Limit mobile data usage switch to turn on Switch on.
Note If prompted, review the message then tap OK.
Tap Data limit.
Enter the desired level (e.g., 2.0GB) then tap SET.


Set Mobile Data Warning

Note A notification message appears upon reaching the specified data usage level indicated by the orange warning line.

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
Navigate: Settings > Data usage.
From the Mobile section, tap Alert me about data usage to turn on Switch on.
Tap Alert me about data usage to turn on Switch on.
Note If prompted, review the message then tap OK.
Tap Billing cycle and data warning.
Tap Data warning.
Enter the desired level (e.g., 2.0GB) then tap SET.


Change Data Usage Cycle

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
Navigate: Settings > Data usage.
From the Mobile section, tap Billing cycle and data warning.
Tap Start billing cycle on.
Select the cycle date then tap SET.

View Data Usage by App

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
Navigate: Settings > Data usage.
From the Mobile section, tap Mobile data usage.
Select an app (below the usage graph) to view the usage info.


Restrict Data Usage by App T Mobile

Note Some apps depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available.

From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
Navigate: Settings > Data usage.
From the Mobile section, tap Mobile data usage.
Select an app (below the usage graph).
Tap Allow background data usage to turn off Switch on.

From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
Tap Settings > Connections.
Tap Data usage.
Follow the appropriate set of steps below.


Turn on a data usage limit

Select the Mobile Data Usage.
Tap the Settings icon.
Tap the Data limit slider to turn ON or OFF.
When you reach this data amount, your data connection is automatically disabled.


Change the data usage limit

From the graph, touch and drag the orange limit up or down to the desired data amount.
If you exceed this setting, your data connection is automatically disabled.
To turn off a data usage limit, move the Data limit slider to OFF.


View data usage by app

From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
Tap Settings > Connections.
Tap Data usage.
If necessary, tap the Mobile data usage to select the time period to be studied for the data usage.
Above the graph, the dates to be studied will be displayed.
Swipe up and view the data usage for applications (largest to smallest).
